with Helmut Lachenmann, the Arditti Quartet and Oliver Wille
Helmut Lachenmann is known for questioning familiar playing techniques and for jolting his listeners’ expectations. On his 80th birthday, he is a guest at the Holzhausenschlösschen, discussing how to deal with sound events in general, his concept of a »concrete instrumental sound composition« which considers noise a sound source equal to conventionally created tones, and his string quartets. The Arditti Quartet performs musical examples, illustrating the compositional approach.
In cooperation with Grunelius Concerts - ›quartetaffairs‹ of the Frankfurter Bürgerstiftung.
